It's that time! We have started weaning babies and are once again selling milk and cheese. It's going to be a great season as this summer we will be expanding our cheese offerings as well as other products. A 48 hour notice will make sure we have the milk bottled fresh and specifically for you. At this time, we have fresh raw milk at $13 a gallon and the queso blanco cheeses. We look forward to serving you!

We welcomed baby Ellie in July and dropped Isabel off in Virginia in August. She will be attending Patrick Henry College. Definitely some changes around here!

We have been busy during this quarantine and able to get a lot of work done on the house. Lots of changes coming to the homestead and family: a new baby, Isabel going to college, and soon a move-in date! Thought we would recap the highlights of the past few months.

Baby #7 is due in early July. Dawn has been feeling great and the kids are so excited to meet their little sister!

This past year the kids did an amazing job at the state fair. In order to participate in the Champion Youth Program, Isabel had to compete with a different species. (She had won the maximum time for goats.) She convinced us to let her invest in sheep. She placed 4th for sheep and went on to finish 2nd overall in the round robin contest earning a spot as a State Fair Ambassador for another year.
​This was Melina's first year as a senior competitor and she did great! Placing 2nd overall for goats. We were so blessed to see them reap the harvest of all their hard work in preparing for the fair while keeping up with challenging school, dual enrollment, music, and their other commitments.

The house building is coming along! We finished everything on the outside and have moved onto the inside. As of June, we have completed the rough plumbing, rough electrical, insulation, and are almost done with the tongue and groove ceiling. The work has been hard but it is looking great!

It has been a great year with 13 baby goats born on the farm, the addition of the sheep (we decided after the fair to keep the sheep and add a ram so that we will have lambs next year) as well as the reaping the harvest from the gardens. We have enjoyed making pickles, squash casserole, and more in addition to our goat cheeses.

We had a successful kidding season which yielded ten bucklings and eight doelings. The goat kids were spoiled daily by the Perdomo children and as a result, we had some of the sweetest, cuddliest babies around.  One special girl, Abigail, was even allowed on the work site with Gabe!

Isabel, Melina and Noah all worked diligently to prepare for the fair and the hard work paid off! They all earned top dollar in their achievement money while Melina earned the coveted top spot of Intermediate State Champion! 

All of the metal has been installed on the roof as well as the dormer windows. We are now installing the siding on the dormers as well as the on the gable ends. Once that is complete, we will be moving onto the foundation. So thankful the roof is done and very excited about the next building phase!

It has been a productive last few months here at the farm. After the complex construction of the dormers, we moved our focus to the roof.  This started with a layer of sheathing, a layer of insulation, and then another layer of sheathing.  We then put up the underlayment. Two simple sentences that in reality was months of lifting, sliding, nailing, drilling, sawing, measuring, holding, and more! We were able to do it all ourselves and each piece fit perfectly. The results of precise measuring and placing of the columns and beams below. 

We are now onto installing the metal roof. The rain, cold, and backorder of supplies has made it take longer than expected but it is coming along nicely. 

We have closed for the season and the goats are getting a break from being milked as we gear up for kidding season at the end of February.  The human kids have not minded the cold temperatures and love to play with the ice that forms in the water buckets. We are blessed by their hard work and dedication to complete chores.  They are now preparing for the Florida State Fair that is three weeks away.  

We are looking forward to all the Lord has for us this spring.  Once the roof is complete, we will move onto the foundation.  Stay tuned to hear how the kids do at the State Fair, pictures of new baby goats, and the final pictures of the roof installation!   

It has been an amazing spring so far at Field of Faithfulness Farm. The biggest and best news is the arrival of our 6th child, Jediah Levi Perdomo. Jediah arrived on February 28th at 4:13 am. We are so thankful to the Lord for this special gift as well as a smooth labor. Mom and baby are doing wonderful!

We have  had 11 does kid so far and the the farm is literally jumping with life! The human kids love to race the baby goats and play king of the rock pile.  Nehemiah and Hannah especially love to pick up babies and help them "find" their mommies.    

​We are excited to announce that we now have milk and several of our products available.  The goats continue to be fed organic, non-soy grain and forage daily on our 7 acres of pasture.  The milk this year will be sold in sealed, plastic containers.  Please give us 48 hours of notice so we can package the milk especially for you.

We have had a very productive month here at Field of Faithfulness Farm.  The concrete spread footings were excavated and poured, the structural columns were installed and aligned, and we're progressing with the structural beams. Check out the video update and photos below for more details:

We designed and built forms to pour the concrete footers around each column.

Next, the elevations were measured and marked and each column was cut to the appropriate height.

Then came the exciting challenge of installing the 8" x 16" x 34' ridge beam, which consists of six 8" x 8" segments. Each segment was installed individually using a rail/slide system.

The ridge beam was secured to the columns with heavy duty galvanized steel connectors, and the top segments were joined to the bottom segments with #5 rebar to prevent differential bending. 

After the ridge beam was completed, we installed the lower beams that support the lofts and have started installing the outer porch beams, which support the outside edge of the roof.

Overall we have been very excited and encouraged by the overall progress in the past two months. Stay tuned for future developments as we walk in faithfulness and see what YHVH has ahead for us.  Psalm 127:1a "Unless YHVH builds the house, they labor in vain who build it."

We are excited to announce that not only have we begun construction on our new home but we will have an additional blessing to bring up in it! 

After months of Gabe working overseas, he is back and we have not only broken ground but in two weeks have sixteen posts in the ground and over six tons of concrete poured.

The season has officially started at Field of Faithfulness Farm!  

This will mark the second year that all our dairy goats are being fed soy-free, certified organic feed. After reading the scientific study by the University of Naples (Italy)[1] that found that dams fed genetically engineered soybeans exhibited changes in the composition of their milk and that the weight of their kids was significantly reduced, as well as the reviewing the increasing number of articles highlighting the negative potential and realized impacts of genetically modified foods and pesticides on humans and animals, we turned to organic feed.  

It has also been two years since we implemented a free range foraging program for our goats.  We have seeded our summer pasture with mixes designed to meet the dietary needs of dairy goats.  Our goats enjoy foraging the fresh pastures daily.

We have increased the number of layer hens, whose eggs available for purchase.  Our hens are also fed soy-free, certified organic grains.
